My name is Andy Dass. In the fall of 2017, I started Tangletown Math Tutors, LLC. For many years, “Tangletown Math tutor” would’ve been a more apt name for the company, as I was the only math tutor on staff. Within the last year, though, the company has grown by 100% after the addition of another tutor. This booming growth is expected to continue.
I graduated from St. Olaf College with a BA in Mathematics, and have nine years of experience as a classroom math teacher (Eight of which were at minneapolis Washburn High School). I’m a Grade 7-12 Licensed math teacher with Several Years of experience teaching algebra 1 through calc 2 (Including IB Classes) at the high school level. Teaching this variety of classes was an invaluable, fun experience, as it provided the opportunity to work with students whose math skills, confidence, enthusiasm, and readiness span the gamut. "effort creates ability" is a phrase i heard early in my teaching career, and i’m a subscriber to that motto.
I live in south minneapolis with my wife and two daughters - Bryn (6.5) and ingrid (3.833333). In addition to tutoring and Fatherhood, I earned my Master’s Degree in Mathematics after leaving the high school classroom. Since then I’ve worked as an adjunct faculty member for university’s in alabama and st. Paul Minnesota, teaching pre-calculus through calc 2. my content knowledge is fresh and expanding, making me well-equipped to help students with college coursework beyond introductory calc. I have significant experience tutoring students from major universities (ivy league, big ten, big twelve, pac twelve) in college calculus, college probability, statistics with calculus, Multi-variable Calculus, and abstract algebra, among other university-level courses.
